How it works

The Elite Cup ran across ten online events. Each player’s best five results counted toward their season total. Two separate qualification paths ran in parallel: EWC (Esports World Cup) – 8 spots from the Elite Cup standings plus 8 pre-qualified through DreamHack Birmingham. ENC (Esports Nations Cup) – top 16 nations by their highest-ranked player’s Elite Cup total, one representative per country.

Part One

What we predicted – and what happened

Before Hungary, we mapped out every fight that could still have a different outcome. Here is the verdict on each one.

GranaDy wins Hungary
Needed a dominant result to pull clear of MASSA_ for Germany’s ENC #1 slot – took 1000 pts (P1)
Confirmed
mime breaks into EWC top 8
Entered Hungary outside the top 8 (non-DHB), needed 300+ pts – scored 500 pts (P4), finishing season at 1312
Confirmed
tweenTM clinches Slovakia into ENC
Needed 60+ pts and to outscore all Turkish players – scored 200 pts (P7), finishes on 412
Confirmed
Turkey holds ENC #16
Cemkoo scored 80 pts. HusoTM did not compete. BirdieTM scored only 16 pts – BirE early bomb out did not materialize any changes within the nations representative
Confirmed
MASSA challenges GranaDy for Germany ENC #1
Needed 300+ pts to stay in contention – scored only 52 pts, eliminated early
Did not happen
Bimy overturns NiTech91 for Russia ENC
Needed 200+ pts with NiTech91 struggling – did not compete in Hungary
Did not happen
USA or Colombia breaks the ENC nations border
FlimsyTM scored 56 pts, charles scored 36 pts – neither came close to close the gap on Cemkoo
Did not happen
Part Two

How the day unfolded

We have chosen six moments that defined Hungary from a season standings perspective – in the order they happened.

Early eliminations
FlimsyTM and charles exit – nations border hope gone
Both the US and Colombia entered Hungary needing a deep run to threaten Turkey’s ENC #16 spot. Neither got there. FlimsyTM (P22, 56 pts) and charles (P32, 36 pts) were eliminated without accumulating anywhere near enough to touch Cemkoo’s total. For both nations, the season ended before the race reached the rounds that mattered.
Early eliminations
MASSA out – Germany fight over
The question going in was whether MASSA_ could score big enough to make the Germany ENC #1 fight interesting. He scored 52 pts (P23) and exited well before the well pointed places. The internal German fight was settled early – GranaDy even won the entire map.
Mid bracket
tweenTM locks Slovakia into ENC
tweenTM’s P7 finish (200 pts) took Slovakia from 234 to 412 total. HusoTM didn’t compete, BirdieTM scored 16, meaning Turkey’s total stayed at 320. The 34-point gap that had made this fight interesting for weeks closed with Slovakia clear on the other side by 92 points.
Deep run
mime- reaches the top 4 — EWC spot secured
mime- came into Hungary sitting outside the EWC top 8 non-DHB, with Cocow_ holding P7 and AffiTM at P8. A P4 finish worth 500 pts changed both. mime- jumped to 1312 total, ending the season as EWC #7. Cocow_ dropped out of the top 8 entirely, finishing the season on 1004.
Semi-finals
Gwenn. reaches the final — EWC #4 jumps
Gwenn.’s run to the final (P3, 600 pts) pushed him from 1188 to 1788 — a significant jump that moved him from EWC #6 to #4 in the non-DHB standings, leapfrogging Otaaaq. His Hungary result was the biggest positive mover of the event for the EWC picture.
Full time
GranaDy. wins — Germany ENC #1 sealed
The [BIG] player took maximum points on the Hungary map — 1000 pts, P1. It pushed him to 3500 total on the season, second overall, and confirmed Germany’s ENC #1 slot with room to spare. MASSA_ finishes as Germany’s EWC #2 representative; GranaDy. as the DHB qualifier. A clean split for one of the strongest national scenes in the field.
Part Three

Slovakia’s TweenTM alongside Poland’s Mime were the defining nations stories of the final event. Turkey had two players in the field – Cemkoo scored 80, BirdieTM scored 16 – but neither was enough of a threat to change the picture. The USA’s FlimsyTM ends the season as the 17th nation, 80 points short of Cemkoo’s total.

The Elite Cup season is over. Binkss won it all. Eight players go to the Esports World Cup through the Elite Cup standings, joined by eight DreamHack Birmingham qualifiers. Sixteen nations go to the Esports Nations Cup in November. The Hungary map, as the season finale, settled every question that was still open and created at least one story worth mentioning, with mime- arriving in the EWC field through the back door.
